Easy Quick Fresh Salsa

Easy Quick Fresh Salsa, homemade recipe, Fresh salsa recipe,

STOP! if you are ever thinking of buying salsa again for $ 4.00 or more a container…why oh, why?   It is soooo easy to make!

Super Quick Salsa you are my secret sauce!  Spice it up or calm it down.. you can be the creator of this oh, so amazing 3 minute easy salsa!   As most of my recipes are, I have made this for small batch size.  It is easy to increase for friends or family gathering.   One caveat- if it is the middle of winter and the only tomatoes you can find are hard and don’t resemble a summer tomato then please use organic tomatoes in a jar or can.  If you are using canned/jar tomatoes use organic please… chopped or whole it doesn’t matter.  Also hint, hint,  if you are making my black bean chili and using 1 cup canned tomatoes and now you have 1/2 cup left well, guess what?!  This is where the other 1/2 cup of tomatoes gets used up.

salsa in the blender, seconds away from eating it!

  • Yield: 3/4 cup Prep Time: 3 minutes Cook Time: 0
  • 2 organic summer tomatoes chopped in chunks or 1/2 cup organic canned tomatoes
  • 1/4 cup yellow onion, cut into 2-3 large chunks
  • 1 jalapeno pepper- stem removed; seeds removed if you want it milder; or use 1/4 cup diced green chilis -mild
  • 1 medium garlic clove, peeled
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 6 sprigs of fresh cilantro + 1 sprig for garnish. (Chop sprigs a couple of times)
  • kosher salt and fresh ground pepper to taste
  • ******optional garnishes, etc:
  • 2-3 dashes Cholula hot sauce (if the salsa is not hot enough for you)
  • 1 lime- 1/2 squeezed and one slice for garnish
  • or
  • 3 slices of avocado for garnish

Put organic tomatoes, chunks of yellow onion, sliced and deseeded jalapeno pepper, clove of garlic, cumin and coarsely chopped cilantro in food processor or blender.

Pulse a few times to chop all the ingredients up coarsely.

Add kosher salt and pepper to taste!

If jalapeños are too spicy for you substitute the jalapeño pepper with canned mild diced green chilis. If jalapeño pepper it is not spicy enough for you-add a couple dashes of Cholula hot sauce, this is my favorite hot sauce, (yummmm!).

A few squeezes of fresh lime juice (if desired)... Super Yum! Garnish with fresh cilantro and or avocado.

Tip: if you are using this salsa to make my black bean chili recipe don't add the lime juice until the end of cooking Betty's Black Bean Chili.
